This is an open enrollment class for armed citizens, *law enforcement, and military personnel.

Defensive Handgun introduces students to shooting techniques necessary to winning a violent encounter with a deep emphasis on an efficient draw stroke from concealment. We will discuss and explore the advantages and disadvantages of various concealment positions, integrate a balanced approach and extensive progression of shooting capabilities, and incorporate a process driven methodology to increase effective anatomical hits on target. Pistol mounted red dot sights are encouraged and preferred for this class.

Prerequisites: MS Enhanced Firearm Permit (or state equivalent). Training beyond CCW requirements preferred, but not required.

*LEO: This course is approved for 8 Continuing Education Units by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety Office of Standards and Training.

For this class, you will need the following:

eye and ear protection (electronic preferred)
sturdy gun belt
300 rounds of ammunition from a quality manufacturer
semi-automatic firearm
quality firearm holster (excluding Serpas and old leather holsters)
magazine holster(s)
the capacity to carry 3 magazines
note taking material
chair

Armed citizens should wear their firearm to class in their current concealed configuration. Law enforcement and military retain the option to wear their duty rig. Pistol mounted red dot sights are encouraged and preferred for this class. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
